South Africa: Intl Social Security Body to Open Local Office - AllAfrica.com

The International Sociable Security Association (ISSA) will set up a new affair business business office in South Africa as portion of its attempts to advance regional webs of societal security institutions.

The association said the office would implement a programme of activities targeted at the specific demands of all fourteen member arrangements in the Southern African region.

Social Development Minister, Emile Zola Skweyiya said authorities will give high precedence to regional coaction to beef up societal security.

Referring to the understanding to host the affair business office and the World Sociable Security Forum, the curate said: "We are humbled by the dual honor bestowed on us and expression forward to providing the leadership."

South Africa is rated as one of the few states in the part with a relatively comprehensive societal security system, which have significantly reduced poorness and improved societal cohesion.

The ISSA also announced programs for a series of enterprises to back up the extension of societal security insurance in the African region, with the support of the South African government.

The organisation's Secretary-General, Hans-Horst Konkolewsky outlined the association's programs during an international conference hosted by the Department of Sociable Development in Cape Town two hebdomads ago.

The conference on societal security challenges in the Southern African Development Community (SADC) provided a platform to discourse societal security issues between governments.

Mr Konkolewsky said that the ISSA was giving high precedence to assisting its member arrangements in Africa to better their technical and administrative capacities and to develop the sharing of good patterns in societal security.

"It is difficult to place any other instruments that could enable the African states to cut down their poorness and mortality degrees as rapidly and reliably as the basic instruments of societal security - societal wellness insurance, societal pensions and kid benefits," he said.

He added that the extension of societal security coverage will be good for the mediocre and for economical growth.

"Social security should be one of the lasting ingredients in all national and regional schemes aimed at poorness reduction, pro-poor economical growing and sustainable livelihoods."

He also confirmed that the ISSA would organise the World Sociable Security Forum, to be held in Cape Town in November 2010.

The forum will affect policymakers and practicians from governments, civil society arrangements and societal security disposals from throughout the world.

ISSA is the world's prima international arrangement with 79 member arrangements in 43 states in Africa and it takes to convey together national societal security disposals and agencies.

It also supplies information, research, expert advice and chopine for members to construct and advance dynamical societal security systems and policy worldwide.

Founded in 1927, the ISSA have 350 member arrangements in more than than 150 countries.
